Vice Ganda, Dismayado sa Pagpapasara ng NTC sa Kanyang Home Network na ABS-CBN

ABS-CBN, one of the leading broadcast networks in the Philippines, officially went off-air on May 5, 2020. The Kapamilya network was forced to close down following an immediate cease-and-desist order from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), who cited that the network has failed to obtain a franchise license to operate.

With its shutdown, ABS-CBN's employees are also left hanging. Being one of the biggest media networks in the Philippines, ABS-CBN also employs a lot of workers, right from admin employees, to crew members and talents. According to reports, more than 11,000 workers rely on the network.

Many celebrities also expressed their disappointment and rage over ABS-CBN's unlawful shutdown. Among them is Vice Ganda, who is one of the highest-paid comedians in the Kapamilya network. Shortly after ABS-CBN went off-air, Vice took to social media to express his dismay.

The 41-year-old "It's Showtime" host cried at the injustice of NTC's order. Vice Ganda stood up for the rights of thousands of people who were left unemployed right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic:

"Di lang ang network at ang mga empleyado ang kawawa kundi ang buong bansa at lahat ng Pilipinong napagkaitan ng kailangang kailangang serbisyo sa oras na ito ng pandemya. Ang lupit!" Vice Ganda said on Twitter.

Moreover, the comedian also expressed his faith during these testing times, and asked his fans to trust the process: "Lord God i believe in you and your power. Alam ko pong nakikita nyo ang lahat. Kayo na po ang bahala sa amin at sa kanila."

On the other hand, Vice Ganda is not the only one who protested due to the closure of his home network. Actor and director Coco Martin also expressed his dismay over this decision.
