"Naaawa ako sayo"- Regine Velasquez, May Mensahe sa mga Bashers ng ABS-CBN

Due to ABS-CBN's forceful shutdown, many livelihoods were also lost. Being one of the leading broadcast networks in the Philippines, ABS-CBN also relies on thousands of admin members, crew, and talents in order to operate on a daily basis. According to online sources, the giant Kapamilya network employs over 11,000 employees.

With ABS-CBN's shutdown, those 11,000 employees will also lose their only means of living, right in the middle of the pandemic when they need it the most. Among those workers are celebrities who took to social media to express their disagreement and dismay over the injustice.

Among those who stood their grounds on social media is Regine Velasquez. In a lengthy and heartfelt Instagram post on May 7, the "Asia's Songbird" addressed all of the people who were gloating due to the shutdown of her home network.

"Bakit ka nagbubunyi na maraming mawawalan ng trabaho? Bakit pinagtatawanan mo ang paghihinagpis namin? Sayo trabaho lang to sa amin kabuhayan to. Maraming pangarap na hindi matutupad dahil dito. Pero ang saya saya mong pinagdiriwang ang pagdadalamhati namin," wrote Regine.

The 50-year-old singer also claimed that in spite of this obstacle, they will eventually find a solution. Regine claims that she has put her faith in God in order to sort things out not only for her home network but for the thousands of employees who rely on ABS-CBN, herself included.

"Pagkatapos ng mga pagsubok na ito mag babalik kami na mas maningning. Pero ikaw hangang dyan ka na lang. Sa katulad mong walang awa,sa katulad mo na ikinatutuwa ang paghihirap ng iba wala ka ng pag-asa! Naaawa ako sayo dahil pinili mong manatili sa mondo mong maliit pinili mong mag pakain sa sistema."
