Muntik na Palang Ipahinto ni Willie ang Wowowin Dati Dahil sa Rason na Ito!

Willie Revillame is known as the most popular game show host in the Philippines. For many decades, the 59-year-old has helped thousands of people in his game shows. Aside from bringing entertainment to the audience, Willie also brings hope to all of the people who joined his show. But did you know that Willie almost lost hope in the past?

"Wowowin" celebrated its fifth anniversary earlier this week. The game show first started airing on GMA on May 10, 2015. But during its first episodes, Willie revealed that he almost gave up on continuing the show because of the massive costs of running it.

In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, the "Wowowin" host revealed that he shouldered all of the costs of the show for the first few months. Initially, there had been very little advertisements on the show, which means that Willie was not getting any return of investment. Willie claimed he shelled out P14 million out of his own pocket just to keep the show running.

"Hanggang sa sinabi ko sa GMA, ihihinto ko na, wala na akong pera. I’m spending about P14 million a month, yun ang ginagastos, sarili kong pera ‘yon. Laki na ho nagagastos ko, walang bumabalik. Ganoon talaga, e. Alam niyo naman ang buhay, laging sugal ‘yan, e. Kaya lang, walang pumapasok ng pera, labas ako nang labas ng pera."

At one point, because of the rising costs, Willie had thought of just closing down the show. Just when he's about to give up, things started looking up for the host. The show's ratings started to peak, and their schedule was changed which also helped to boost their viewership.

Now, "Wowowin" remains of the most-viewed game shows in the Philippine television. Willie also attributes the success of the show to the hardworking crew and his reliable hosts. Thanks to his show, Willie has also changed the lives of a lot of people.
