Bea Alonzo, Namahagi ng Tulong sa mga Jeepney Driver na Apektado ng ECQ
During the enhanced community quarantine, Bea Alonzo decided to share her blessings with people in need. Bea is one of the co-founders of the non-profit organization I AM HOPE, which aims to help jeepney drivers in Metro Manila who lost their livelihoods during the coronavirus pandemic.
In an effort to feed their families, some jeepney drivers were forced to beg for money and food on the street. They were featured in a news report that caught the attention of Bea Alonzo Moved by the drivers' pitiful situation during the ECQ, Bea acted immediately.
“I recently lost a very close relative, hindi madali, mabigat sa dibdib. While at home and grieving, my friend Rina, sent me a video from TV PATROL yesterday about the jeepney drivers out in the streets begging for money to feed their families. They have lost their source of income because of the pandemic," says Bea.
Together with her I AM HOPE co-founder, Vhong Navarro, Bea donated relief goods including canned goods, sacks of rice, instant noodles, and many more to the affected jeepney drivers. Bea hopes that with this little help, they are able to find hope in their current situation.
"Minsan kapag mabigat ang loob mo at pakiramdam mo, pinagsakluban ka ng mundo, may magpapaalala sayo na may pwede kang gawin para may magbago," added Bea, who also expressed her overwhelming gratitude to the people who donated in their organization.
