Angel Locsin, Nagsalita na! May Mensahe sa mga Bashers ng ABS-CBN

For the first time in 25 years, one of the biggest networks in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, has halted its operations. May 5, 2020 marks the historic day that the Kapamilya network went off-air, following a strict cease-and-desist order from the National Telecommunications Commission, with urging from Solicitor General Jose Calida.

Because of the ABS-CBN's unlawful closure, many celebrities protested against the injustice. Many artists from the ABS-CBN network took to social media to express their dissatisfaction over the closure of their home network, and among them is Angel Locsin.

Right from the start, the 35-year-old actress has been known for being vocal on social media. This time, she used the platform to express awareness over the injustice of the situation. Angel Locsin appealed to the conscience of people who were celebrating the network's shutdown:

"Sa lahat ng nagmamagaling at nagsasabi na “buti nga nagsara ang ABS”, sana masarap ang tulog ninyo ngayon gabi at nakapagbayad na ng bills. Sana rin masarap rin ang mga napamalengke ninyo na ipapakain sa inyong pamilya. Sana walang magkasakit na kailangan ipagamot at gastusan."

On the other hand, Angel Locsin is not the only one who speaks out against NTC and Solicitor General Jose Calida. Kapamilya stars like Coco Martin and Vice Ganda also took to Twitter and Instagram to express their dismay over the situation.

According to NTC, ABS-CBN has violated their franchise by allegedly selling the black box, TV plus, which required the masses to pay for channels. NTC claims that the network has no right to collect fees for an otherwise free airwave.
