Willie Revillame, Nagbabala sa mga Fake Accounts na Gumagamit ng Pangalan Niya

As of the last week of April, the coronavirus has already claimed thousands of lives worldwide. Amid the coronavirus pandemic that is currently plaguing the globe, there's another threat on the rise: fake news and scams. On social media, many people are taking advantage of people's fears and desperation in order to carry out their schemes.

Particularly on social media, more and more people are devising plans to scam people during this time of need. And unfortunately, because their scams are so elaborate and believable, many people are falling for them. In order to convince victims, some people even use celebrities.

Many people on Facebook have already fallen victim to this scam. In Facebook, fake pages using the names of celebrities and popular organizations or programs are prevalent. In most of these scams, they will ask for donations from the netizens while pretending to raise funds for people in need.

Perhaps one of the most targeted of these scams is the game show "Wowowin." Host Willie Revillame is known for his generosity in helping others, that's why many people are also using his name in order to scam others. This became so prevalent that Willie had to address this matter publicly.

During his live program, Willie warned his fans to be warier of these fake Facebook accounts who are pretending to be him. The host couldn't help but be emotional as he addressed these fake accounts:

"Wala kayong ginawa kundi mang-walanghiya ng tao! Sa panahong ganito ba naman gagawa pa kayo ng ganyan? Bakit mo sasabihin na sinabi ko yan? Kaya nga kami nagsho-show dito para sa mahihirap, sa mga walang makain. Bakit ko sasabihin yan?"

At the end of the day, it always pays to be vigilant and attentive in order to not fall for scams like this.
