During the coronavirus outbreak, many people are demanding more actions from politicians and government officials. Recently, actress-turned-politician Angelika de la Cruz responded to a critic online who accused her of being an incompetent and useless barangay chairman. The 38-year-old actress is also currently the barangay captain in Longos, Malabon City.

On Twitter, a critic commented against Angelika’s response towards the coronavirus outbreak. The unnamed critic, which Angelika referred to as a troll, also accused the actress of deleting unsavory comments about her on social media.

“Hoy g*ga ka Angelika dela Cruz. Pag napuna ka sa Facebook page mo dahil wala kang kwentang kapitana binubura mo ang comment? Wala ka pa ring kwentang kapitan. Wag ka nang tumakbo sa susunod na election.”

The actress-turned-politician did not let this pass. Upon seeing the tweet, Angelika retweeted it and defended herself by claiming that the critic was spreading false information.

“Hoy mas g*ga ka ay ikaw ang mas walang kwentang tao. Bash ka ng bash mali naman ang information mo! Hindi porket hindi ako magpopost ng work ko sa barangay wala akong ginagawa. Ayan isaksak mo sa baga mo ang pictures ng matahimik ka. Troll!”

Angelika shared a photo and video of her sanitizing the streets of their barangay in an effort to contain the virus. According to the actress, she doesn’t usually brag about her actions on social media, but she shared their activities for the sake of people who are questioning her efficiency.

“Hindi porket hindi ako nagpopost ng pictures and videos wala kaming ginagawa. I understand na lahat tayo nagaalala at kinakabahan kaya emotional tayo sa mga nangyayri Sa bansa natin. Pero pakiusap sana bago kayo manira alamin nyo muna ang totoo.”

On the other hand, many netizens applauded the actress for her brave response. Indeed, it takes will to respond to critics who have nothing better to say online.
