Pink Beach sa Zamboanga, Kabilang sa Best Beaches in the World ng National Geographic

The Philippines is one of the leading tourist destinations in Southeast Asia. Every year, millions of people from all over the globe visit the country just to get a glimpse of its breathtaking scenic sights. Because of its archipelagic landscape, with more than 7,107 islands, the Philippines is particularly famous for its beaches.

The most popular beach in the Philippines is Boracay. Located in Palawan, this tourist spot is famous all around the world for its clear blue sea and white sands. But did you know that we also have a remote island with a pink beach? This newly-discovered island in Zamboanga might just be the next Boracay.

According to a report published on Inquirer, Sta. Cruz island is located just 4 kilometers away from Paseo del Mar in Zamboanga City. As you step foot on this island, your attention will surely be caught with its pinkish-white sand! The island is surrounded by red organ pipe corals, which gives off the pinkish hue of the sands.

Of course, the pink sand is just one of the many great things about the Sta. Cruz island. Since this has just been opened to the tourist, the island is not as crowded nor as busy as Boracay. It only takes 15-20 minutes boat ride to reach Sta. Cruz island from Paseo del Mar, for only Php 1,000 fare for 10 persons.

Because of its grandeur, Sta. Cruz island is slowly becoming a favorite spot for tourists. It even caught the attention of National Geographic way back in 2018, when Sta. Cruz island made it to the list of the 21 best beaches from around the globe! This even added to the island's rising fame.

In order to preserve the beauty of the island, the local government has decided to limit the number of tourists per day. Only 500 tourists are allowed to visit the island per day, and they are prohibited from staying the night. In spite of these restrictions, tourism in Sta. Cruz island is still thriving.
