Contrary to the widespread belief, you can find a serious partner on social media too, just like what happened to this couple whose love story went viral on social media.

"It all started with a wave." All it took was a wave on Messenger for couples Kate Garcia and Gian Axalan. Who would have thought that previous chatmates Gian and Kate will end up in the altar? They were equally surprised as well but were happy with where a simple chat took them.

On Facebook, the couple shared their inspiring love story to give hope to others who are also in a long-distance relationship. It was way back in December 2017 when the two met on Facebook; with Gian prompting their conversation. Kate was hesitant at first to entertain the guy she just met online, but soon enough she warmed up to him.

Since Gian is situated in Italy, they did not have a chance to meet in flesh right away. Due to different time zones, they will stay up all night just to talk with each other. As the days pass by, the anticipation to meet is also growing strong until Gian finally flew back home to the Philippines in May 2018.

His stay was short, but they made sure that every second count. At this point, Kate and Gian both knew that their relationship is heading somewhere serious. So, in June 2018, just six months after they first met, Gian finally asked Kate's hand for marriage. Delighted, Kate accepted his proposal!

On December 6, 2019, exactly two years since they met, the two tied the knot in a lavish ceremony. Their love story immediately went viral on Facebook, with many netizens being inspired with its fairytale-like outcome. Indeed, this just goes to show that despite all the odds, love will still prevail!
