Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto faced a dire situation after being summoned by the National Bureau of Investigation on April 1. NBI has issued a summon for the Pasig Mayor after allegedly disobeying the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act. As expected, this incited outrage from thousands of people on social media who pointed out that Mayor Vico was merely performing his duties.

In a statement, NBI Deputy Director and spokesman Ferdinand Lavin claimed that the 29-year-old mayor is expected to face the anti-graft division on NBI's main office in Manila on April 7. When asked about his violation, Lavin claimed that the mayor might have possibly violated quarantine protocols.

"For LGU officials for disobeying national government policies or directives in imposing quarantines under the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act."


If proven guilty, Mayor Vico may face two months of imprisonment and a fine of Php 10,000 to Php 1 million. This prohibited act is under the newly-signed law implemented by President Rodrigo Duterte. This grants him additional powers and funding in an effort to contain coronavirus.

Even celebrities also expressed their sentiments on social media. Among those who speak up in support for the Pasig City Mayor is Angel Locsin, Kim Chiu, Maris Racal, Anne Curtis, Bela Padilla, Angelica Panganiban, Janine Gutierrez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and many more. They took to Twitter to express their support.

On the other hand, it seems like not all people were pleased with these celebrities' reactions. On social media, some netizens questioned the celebs' sincerity in their statements. For many, it seems as if some artists are only joining the bandwagon now, because, in the past, they rarely comment anything about the administration.
