Lolo, Dismayado Matapos Bawiin ang P6K na Ayuda Mula sa DSWD

The COVID-19 outbreak doesn't just pose a threat to our healthcare system. This pandemic also threatens the livelihood of millions of families who were rendered jobless. Because of the community quarantine, more and more people are relying on the support of the government in order to get by during this crisis.

Among those who needed support and financial assistance are senior citizens. They are the most vulnerable during this situation since most elderly people no longer have a means of living to support them. The Department of Welfare and Social Development has pledged to give financial assistance to our senior citizens.

Unfortunately, not all senior citizens get to enjoy the benefits of the government. Among them is this elderly man from Quezon province. On April 21, Joel Alva Baclao shared what happened to his grandfather. According to Baclao, their grandfather was heartbroken after his amelioration funds were taken back.

The elderly man already cashed in his Php 6000 from the social amelioration program. Baclao claimed that his grandfather was planning on spending the money to buy his meds, vitamins, and undergarments. However, his plans were cut short when the funds were taken back from him.

"Sobra nalungkot si lolo kasi binawi DSWD ang pera na binigay na ayuda. Nalungkot siya sobra, hiling lang niya sa binigay ay ibili siya ng brief at damit at 6 pocket na short pero ganun pa man, yung pera P5550 pa napabalik."

On the other hand, some netizens commented that Lolo's family might have been listed in the 4P's, which will explain why the Php 6000 from the DSWS was taken back from him. Many netizens are also calling the attention of DSWD to clear out this matter.
