"Kopyahan na eto!"- Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian, Nanghiram ng Tactics kay Vico Sotto

As of March 26, more than 700 cases of positive COVID-19 individuals have been reported in the Philippines. This is an alarming surge, from the original 100 cases way back on March 15. Due to the urgency of this crisis, local government units are also finding more and more innovative ways to keep their constituents safe.

Among them is Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, who immediately spun into action after President Rodrigo Duterte implemented the enhanced community quarantine on March 15. Ever since, the young mayor has been busy finding ways to contain the virus in Pasig, while also providing support and assistance to his people at the same time.

Among his innovations were using high-tech drones for sanitation purposes. He's also hands-on in providing food packs and monetary assistance to his constituents, especially during the community quarantine. But aside from Vico, Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian is also gaining the approval of the netizens.

Mayor Gatchalian is also taking inspiration from some of Vico Sotto's ideas in Pasig, just like their mobile palengke. On Twitter, the mayor jokingly said that since they are not in a classroom, it's okay to 'copy' innovative ideas that can benefit the people.

"Plano nga natin gayahin sila sa Pasig sa pamumuno ni mayor @VicoSotto. Kopyahan na eto!!! Wala naman tayo sa school e... in this case copying is allowed I think."

In addition to that, Mayor Gatchalian has also turned the Valenzuela City Astrodome into a centralized isolation center. Aside from food packs, he also provided food vouchers for the people in need. Hats off to you, Mayor Gatchalian! Just goes to show that not all heroes wear cape.
