Angel Locsin, Dismayado sa Seller na Nag-Offer ng P1.5k na Face Mask sa Kanya

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic in the Philippines, people are already panic-buying face masks and alcohol, fearing that these supplies will run out. Ironically, this unnecessary hoarding caused a massive shortage of medical supplies. Experts advised against hoarding since these supplies are needed more by the patients and the medical community.

Some people will hoard massive numbers of face masks and alcohol only to increase their price when the supply runs out. These price gougers are charging as much as 80% more than the original retail price. Even actress Angel Locsin has almost fallen victim to a price gouger.

With the aim of helping patients and the medical community, the 34-year-old actress turned to social media to find suppliers for face masks. However, the Kapamilya actress was extremely disappointed after being approached by price gougers, who charged her as much as P1,500 per box of face masks.

"Sa nagbebenta sa akin ng mask na nakalaan para sa mga frontliners natin for P1,500, makonsensiya ho kayo." This is Angel's straightforward statement on Twitter which immediately gained the attention of fans.

Unluckily for these unnamed hoarders, Angel did not fall for their tricks. Instead, the actress revealed their modus operandi on social media. Upon finding out, many people were disappointed as well, but at least they have been warned to avoid these price gougers.

Some people even called for penalizing the price gougers during a crisis. In the US, two brothers hoarded more than $17,000 worth of hand sanitizers and made a lucrative profit. In the end, after being discovered, they were forced to donate all of it to their local church.
