Kahit pa Naging Kapamilya Dati, Robin Padilla, Suportado ang Pagsasara ng ABS-CBN
One of the largest networks in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, is currently in a battle to whether or not renew the franchise of their network. Many celebrities voiced out their concerns against the closing of ABS-CBN, but other people were not so supportive of the network. Among them is action star Robin Padilla.
Robin is known as an avid supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte. That being said, it didn't come as a surprise when Robin expressed his support for the president's side. The 50-year-old action star took to social media to share his opinions on this matter.
On Instagram, Robin shared a quote from Theodore Roosevelt that reads: "No man is above the law and now man is below it." Based on Robin's statement, he's in favor of whatever the court's decision, but his caption also heavily leans against ABS-CBN.
"Mayaman o mahirap may kapangyarihan o wala sikat man o hindi ang lahat dapat ay pantay-pantay sa harap ng batas dahil ang hustisya ay walang tinitingnan o tinititigan ang mali ay mali at ang tama ay tama walang maybe o exempted ang lahat ay mananagot kapag lumabag sa batas."
Robin's post garnered various reactions on social media. Some people praised the action star for his 'open mind,' while others took a jab at him. According to some netizens, it's ironic that Robin is supporting the closure of the network, which used to be his home network as well.
In addition to that, Robin's wife, Mariel Rodriguez, is also working in ABS-CBN. Mariel is one of the hosts of the noontime variety show "It's Showtime."
