Dahil sa Virtual Reality, Muling Nakapiling ng Nanay na ito ang Kanyang Anak
There's nothing more painful for a mother than to lose her child. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, parents sometimes had to say goodbye to their beloved kids. This is what happened to this family in South Korea, whose youngest daughter, Nayeon, suddenly passed away.
The seven-year-old Nayeon was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease that started with a fever. A month later, much to the shock of the family, Nayeon finally succumbs to the disease. Her family didn't even get to say a proper goodbye.
In order to give them closure and help them cope up with their loss, a South Korean TV Broadcaster MBC aired a documentary surrounding the family. Using modern technology, they were able to recreate a virtual Nayeon and using VR, her mother got to see her once again.
The virtual 'Nayeon' has just the same characteristics as their seven-year-old daughter. In order to make the meeting more personal, the designers decided to imitate the park the family often goes to. To keep the mood light, the virtual simulation only focused on happy memories.
In spite of this, Nayeon's mother was not able to hold back her emotions upon meeting her 'daughter' once more. The mother was emotional after seeing Nayeon alive and active once again.
As a farewell message, Nayeon even gave out advice to her family. She asked her dad to stop smoking, and she also reminded her siblings to stop fighting.
On the other hand, this experiment garnered divided opinions on social media. For some people, it's a good way to cope up with the grief of losing someone. However, for others, this can be an obstacle in the natural healing process to overcome the mourning.
