As the old adage goes, a dog is man's best friend. Most people have a close bond to their pets, to the point of even treating them like a family member. However, there are also risks and dangers that come along with this practice. Don't believe us? Then just take a look at what happened to this teen.

Lara Sanson, a 17-year-old girl from Argentina, learned the importance of distancing yourself from your pets the hard way. A supposedly fun and memorable photoshoot turned into a nightmare after their family dog attacked her. According to a report from Daily Star, the family's German Shepherd mauled the teen's face.

While doing a playful photoshoot, Lara decided to tag along with their family dog, not knowing the disastrous events that would transpire. As seen in the photos, the teen was positioned very close to her dog, when the German Shepherd suddenly snapped and bit her face.

The teen was immediately taken to the hospital, where she required a two-hour surgery and 40 stitches in the face and gums. However, during the horrifying ordeal, Lara claimed that she felt no pain at all. In fact, she did not blame the dog for its violent reaction.

“I do not know if I touched its hip or if it reacted like this because it is old, or it was because I hugged it and scared it."

Meanwhile, the 17-year-old Argentinian teen shared her ordeal on Twitter, where it quickly rose to fame. As of writing this, Lara's post has already generated more than 337,000 reactions from the worried netizens.

On the other hand, Lara is expected to make a speedy recovery, although she is still suffering from inflammation. According to the family, they have no plans of putting the dog down because of the incident.
